The Department of Linguistics at the University of Umeå has been part of a European project ``Multilingual Text Tools and Corpora'' (MULTEXT), financed by the European Union (LRE 62-050). MULTEXT aims gathering comparable, parallel and speech corpora in six EU languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. The main objective for Umeå has been to add a Swedish component to this collection. The Swedish contribution to MULTEXT is based on the Swedish project ``Stockholm-Umeå Corpus Project'' (SUC), a monolingual corpus. The results of MULTEXT-SW, including corpora and linguistic resources for Swedish, will be distributed free or at cost. Swedish material is only part of the comparable corpus in MULTEXT and no Swedish material is found in the parallel or speech corpora.
