Emilie Francis

I am a researcher of NLP applications for misinformation, bias, and propaganda. I am interested in how bias and misinformation in the news and on social media shapes people's interpretations of world events, influences the political environment within a region, and its reflection on foreign policy and international relations. I take a cross-linguistic approach by considering information presented in several languages, including (but not limited to) Japanese, French, Russian, Ukrainian, and English. I am also interested in the ethics of data collection and usage, as well as digital privacy and one's right to anonymity.
