Jag är forskare i språkteknologi vid Språkbanken på Göteborgs universitet. Min forskning handlar om att utveckla datorprogram som kan förstå information i skriven text genom att undersöka textens grammatik. Sådana program kan t.ex. vara:

  • Verktyg som hjälper människor att förstå texter som beskriver komplicerade händelseförlopp, som trafikolyckor.
  • Sökverktyg för texter där åsikter och känslor uttrycks, som recensioner eller texter som handlar om politik.

Förutom de praktiska tillämpningarna finns också teoretiskt intressanta frågeställningar:

  • Det finns många sätt att beskriva ett språks grammatik och en texts innehåll för en dator. Vad har detta för effekt på språkbaserade datorprogram?
  • Hur mäter man datorns förmåga att förstå grammatiken och innehållet i en text?
  • Hur kan man använda existerande datoriserade verktyg för ett språk för att bygga verktyg som fungerar för texter skrivna på andra språk?
