Seminar: John Chrysostom's Ad Stagirium a daemone vexatum: manuscript history with modern methods.

Ad Stagirium a daemone vexatum - The text of Book 1, chapters 1-5

Speaker: Daniel Ridings, daniel@dlridings.se

Introduction: What follows is the result of ten month’s work with digitizing and transcribing 40 manuscripts of this text. It is only a status report and does not contain definitive conclusions. There will be a lot of numbers, but they are just numbers, not hidden statistical measures. They are absolute numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on, or percentages. It never gets more complicated than that.
The goal of this report is to describe the process behind arriving at a first tentative global stemma of 40 witnesses containing the text.
Keywords: Coherence Based Genealogical Method (CBGM), manuscript families/groups, textual scholarship, electronic editing, CollateX, Online Transcription Editor, Standalone Collation Editor, github, virtual manuscript room
