Xhosa Corpus

Språkbanken Text collaborates with the project "How do words get in order? The role of speaker-hearer interaction in languages of southern Africa", led by Eva-Marie Karin Bloom Ström at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics, Theory of Science at the University of Gothenburg.

The purpose of the collaboration is to create a corpus of Xhosa, an underresourced Bantu language of South Africa. More specifically, we will enrich the data collected during field work on Xhosa with further annotation and integrate them into Korp, providing both a downloadable corpus and a convenient search interface.

We appreciate the help and advice we are receiving from our colleagues at The South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR).
