Jacobo Rouces

Jacobo Rouces is a former staff member, who quit on 2021-06-30.

I am currently a researcher at Språkbanken, in the Department of Swedish at the University of Gothenburg.

I work with different areas within natural language processing, currently mostly focusing on sentiment analysis. I also work on semantic integration of ontologies and linked data, which was the topic of my Ph.D.

I have supporting skills in machine learning, software development, and web development. In the past, I have been involved as well in image processing, human-computer interfaces, computer graphics, simulations, signal processing, and I have a background in telecommunications engineering.

Towards a Knowledge-Based Culturomics

The main aim of this research program is to advance the state of the art in language technology resources and methods for semantic processing of Swedish text, in order to provide researchers and others with more sophisticated tools for working with the information contained in large volumes of digitized text, e.g., by being able to correlate and compare the content of texts and text passages on a large scale.
