Invited speakers

We are delighted to announce two distinguished invited speakers for our workshop. Their pioneering work and influential contributions to the field make them exceptional keynote scholars. We are truly excited to welcome them and look forward to the insight, depth, and inspiration they will bring to the event:

  • Brian MacWhinney, Teresa Heinz Professor of Cognitive Psychology, Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Title of the keynote: TalkBank resources for studying functional communication in language disorders - a survey. TalkBank materials in the six clinical banks with an emphasis on evaluation of current tools for diagnosis, classification, treatment, and monitoring. The keynote will be delivered online.
  • Sunny X. Tang, Associated professor of psychiatry, MD, Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, Northwell Health, USA. Title of the keynote: Speech and language markers for clinical applications in psychiatric disorders. Abstract; Automated analysis of speech and language is a potentially powerful and scalable tool to aid in the delivery of mental health care. This talk will describe applications of these technologies in four ways: 1) Diagnostic classification in a heterogeneous, comorbid psychiatric population, 2) Identificaiton of delirium in a medically ill, older adult population, 3) Longitudinal tracking of changes in psychosis symptoms over time, and 4) Modifying an LLM to produce automated clinical ratings for thought disorder.
