Version 9.10.0 of the Korp frontend was released on June 26, 2025. The changes are briefly listed in the changelog, but let's look more closely at some of them here!
Relative frequency
In the search result, you will now get a relative hit count beside the absolute one. That is, the hit count in relation to the total token count of the selected corpora. Just like in the statistics result, this is expressed as hits per million tokens. If you search for the noun fågel (bird) in our fiction collection, you get a relative frequency of 93.4, which is roughly equal to one in ten thousand. This makes it easier to compare searches across different corpus selections.

As mentioned, the statistics table has already been showing relative frequencies for a long time. They used to show next to the absolute frequency in every cell, like "65.8 (329)". Now, however, the table only shows the absolute frequency to begin with. To get relative frequencies, just check the "Relative frequency" option above the table.

Another change that can be seen in these screenshots is that the "Total" column (and the distribution chart column) have a new background color. This is of course to differentiate it from the corpus columns and hopefully make the table easier to read.
State management
Under the hood, the code for keeping track of the app state has been rewritten and consolidated. The app state includes things like your search query, what options you have changed and which result tab is active. (To be clear, none of this is stored anywhere except in your own browser, and mostly only until you exit the page.)
As a user, you will not notice any of this. The benefit of changes like these – code quality improvements – is instead that the codebase is easier to maintain and collaborate on in the long run.
New citation reference
Whenever you use Korp in your work, we have been encouraging you to cite our publication from back in 2012. Earlier this month, in connection to Språkbanken's 50-year anniversary, we published a book on our history from a lexicography perspective. One of the chapters in this book is a more up-to-date description of Korp as a platform, and this is what we'd like you to cite instead from now on! The How to cite page lists current references for each of our tools, and Korp user interface now has a link to there.
