My main research interest is the relationship between language and power. I am also interested in the history of language, translation, and language technology, particularly in relation to free software and open source. These interests are a great help in answering a lot of questions about language and power! The theories and methods I use can be summarised under the research topic of corpus-assisted discourse analysis (CADS). If you or anyone you know needs supervision in this area, please get in touch!
Until December 2028, I am working on creating, improving, expanding and analysing a corpus of narratives from former slaves in North and Central America (mostly in the USA). I also have side projects concerning discourses in parliamentary debates.
I have taught corpus-supported discourse analysis, text analysis, practical translation, and academic writing at university level, as well as Swedish for beginners and Latin at Folkuniversitetet.
Prior to working at the University of Gothenburg, I was a PhD student and thesis supervisor at Stockholm University. In my spare time, I edit OpenStreetMap maps and translate open-source software, but unfortunately I don't have enough free time!
